Braised Pig's Trotters @ Leong Kee (Klang) Bak Kut Teh

This place situated along Beach Road is actually known for their bak kut teh (also obvious from their name) than their braised pig's trotters (卤猪脚).

However, their braised pig's trotters is clearly the winning dish here! I've tried the bak kut teh here a long time ago and it didn't impress me then. The soup was the herbal type and I preferred the peppery kind of bak kut teh.

I happened to chance upon a blog post about Leong Kee and the blogger mentioned the braised pig's trotters here was surprisingly good.

As Leong Kee is a stone's throw away from my workplace, I went there once again during lunch one day to try their pig's trotters.

My oh my, their pig's trotters are really fabulous.

It tasted very different from the usual braised pig's trotters which tend to be overly sweet for me. This, my friend, was braised with the herbs they use for their bak kut teh and it was savoury and fragrant. The pig's trotters were just nice with that herbal kick to wake your taste buds up.

I asked for the fattier meat and you can see, there were generous chunks of meat. Without any bones. Yes, no bones.

The pig's trotters I have had always come with huge bones and you'll have to gnaw the meat away from them and it is really quite a chore. But not this one. Eating this was a breeze and sheer pleasure. The meat was slow cooked to amazing tenderness and it just melts away in your mouth!

It also comes with a small bowl of bak kut teh soup and at $5.50, this braised pig's trotters is worth every penny.

I was so in love with this dish that I had that for lunch 3 days in a row, lol. This is a must try if you are a fan of pig's trotters and you won't regret it.

They are located at 321 Beach Road and are open from 10am - 9.30pm from Tuesday- Sunday.

  1. Hello,

I was so happy to stumble upon your blog! While I don't doubt there are other paleo eaters out in Singapore, there are hardly any blogs/resources about local paleo.

Your recipes are delicious and easy + can get all the ingredients from ntuc! :p I hate it when I come across an awesome looking recipe with obscure ingredients unavailable in Singapore. Will definitely be coming back to read more!
