Baked Salmon with Cheese Crust

I realized I've posted a lot of meat-related recipes so decided to do a fish dish today!

Whether served raw as sashimi or served cooked as a fillet, you could say salmon is a fairly popular fish in Singapore.

As I like my meals to be as fuss-free as possible, I will show you how to prepare this really quick baked salmon fillet.

I used:
1 pc salmon fillet (I got mine pre-packed at a supermarket for almost $9)
some mushrooms, halved
a tomato, sliced
couple of cloves of garlic, chopped
much butter
much grated cheese ( I like cheddar cos they are the highest in fat)
black pepper
salt

First of all, cover your baking tray with some foil and spread the mushrooms, tomatoes and garlic so that they sort of form a base for your salmon. Season them with black pepper and salt.

Next, cube some butter and place them onto the mushrooms and tomatoes.

Lay the fillet over the base (with the skin faced up) and spread some butter onto the skin.

Okay, I love this last step the most. GENEROUSLY sprinkle the grated cheese over the fillet as well as the shrooms so that it will melt and form an awesome crust on the salmon.

Don't know why but it gives me a thrill to see a blanket of cheese on my food, lol.

Place the tray into your preheated oven at 150°C for about 20-30 mins depending on the size of your fillet. You know it's ready when your salmon turns pink and flakes well.

Done! I had extra cheese so I added it to my sauteed kailan.

The cheese crust! Love it!
