Chicken Stock

I've always wanted to make soup stock to store away for future use or for that sudden craving for hot soup but I never got around to doing it. However, I recently bought a hugeass casserole pot and I couldn't wait to "break into" the pot by doing my first batch of stock.

Spinach Thick Soup

You may remember my earlier posts about Creamed Spinach and Broccoli Puree. This recipe I'm going to share is somewhat like a combination of both.

Salmon Fish Head Soup

I love salmon and I always go for the fillets in the supermarkets because they are real easy to handle and cook. However, they are also expensive. The salmon fish heads on the other hand, are much less costly but obviously cos no one wants them very often.

I got a whole salmon fish head (halved) from NTUC Finest the other day for just slightly over $3! I figured my favourite (and no doubt the easiest) way to cook this part of the fish is to make a soup out of it.

Butter Vegetable Soup with Pork Belly

Great to be back! Well, it wasn't easy to eat LCHF when travelling but I did try my best (most of the time, lol) and well, I'm happy to say I'm back on track.

First post for the year and I'll like to share my idiot-proof soup recipe. It is simple (just 4 to 5 ingredients) and best of all, quick.

Roasted Capsicums with Goat Cheese

I've been quite busy for the past couple of weeks preparing for my month-long vacation (big smiley here). This will probably be the last post for quite some time unless I find time during my holiday to post pictures of my meals.

Baked Salmon with Cheese Crust

I realized I've posted a lot of meat-related recipes so decided to do a fish dish today!

07 October 2012

Avocado Ice Cream

This is one of the easiest ice cream recipes I've done because no cooking is involved!

Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

I always thought bacon was expensive because I remembered browsing in a supermarket once and was quite bowled over by the prices for a few pcs of cured pork belly. I mean I could get that much pork belly (raw) at a fraction of the price. However I was at NTUC Finest the other day and I came across a packet of their house brand bacon which cost about $4 for about 8 pcs. Well yeah, it was still rather expensive but compared to other brands, that was the cheapest of the lot.

Creamed Spinach & Carrots with Prawns

Ever since I’ve started on LCHF, I’ve been more adventurous in the kitchen and I really enjoy whipping up tasty meals especially on weekends when I have more time. So I’ve been thinking of trying to cook vegetables in a “fatty” way because I normally sauté my veggies in lard/butter/coconut oil and it gets kinda meh after a while.

Baked Chicken Leg on a Bed of Vegetables

I don’t eat chicken much (especially when I dine out) because I once read somewhere some chickens are actually injected with hormones to speed up their growth. And when I buy raw chicken, I like to buy them from Sakura.

Duck Gizzards in Red Wine Sauce

I was doing my grocery-shopping at one of those neighbourhood NTUCs when I chanced upon chilled duck gizzards. They were in a packet and it was about 300g. Well, I’ve never tried cooking them before so I thought I’ll give it a go.

Baked Cheesy Portobello Mushrooms

I grabbed some big portobello mushrooms from the supermarket the other day and wanted to do something different instead of the usual stir-frying.

22 August 2012

Beef Stew (kinda)

So I wasn't actually planning to make stew but had wanted to make some beef stock to keep for future use instead.

Paleo Bread

Remember the Oopsie Bread which I made and didn't quite like? Well, I came across another kind of "bread" which is LCHF-friendly.

09 August 2012

Broccoli Puree

Inspired by one of the folks at hwz who pureed his cauliflower, I thought I'll give it a try with broccoli.

Oopsie Bread

I wasn’t much of a bread person before LCHF but I managed to stumble onto this flourless bread called Oopsie Bread. Thought it will be fun to make and also another reason to make use of my under-utilized oven.
